General Description

The MicroTesla Analog Surfacemount Sensor is our newest analog sensor. In addition to MicroTesla’s proprietary magnetometer technology. The MASS uses newly designed surface mount circuit boards. The high accuracy magnetometers and accelerometers and associated electronics are mounted on a short rigid one piece chassis. These new boards can be mounted to the chassis using the Ulti-pak method. The ruggedized sensor design is well suited to hostile Measurement-While-Drilling applications.

Magnetometer

The magnetometer is a MicroTesla proprietary flux gate design. The magnetometer design uses proprietary sampling and filtering methods which make it particularly suitable for oilfield operations. Advances in ringcore material and winding techniques have improved the sensor performance. Over the specified operating range, the magnetometer outputs are linear and repeatable. Low bias and scale factor variations versus temperature virtually eliminates the need for third order temperature corrections.

Accelerometer

Three single-axis accelerometers are used in this tool. These ruggedized quartz flexure servo devices are used successfully in Measurement-While-Drilling applications.

Calibration

MicroTesla has the capability to calibrate the complete sensor package and will provide the K-factor table in accordance with a customer specified format.
